RDS HD Subscription Issues and Pricing

The purpose of this thread is to discuss pricing and subscriptions issues surrounding RDS HD on ExpressVu.

It is not for the discussion of programming on RDS HD! Discussion of programming should take place here.
 
I have a message on 864 that is in red on the program channel guide.

does anyone have 863 up? or does anyone have 864 on the program channel guide in light blue.

I have a feeling because 864 is in red, that i am not going to get it tonight without some phone calls.
 
After a talk with the online chat on the Bell web Site, the guys said the 863 channel will be available only at 7:00 PM tonight, not before.

And it's the same thing, i get the 864 in red in my guide.

however, too bad because now I can't record it on my hdpvr at 7pm. I don't get back to my home until 7:45, so I'll miss the first period in HD.

anyone see 864 in light blue, or does everyone see it in red?
 
I don't know why the channel are available on Videotron (#633) and Star Choice (#266) since this morning and not on ExpressVu.

I have a feeling that Bell are not ready to put the switch at ON.
 
isn't RDS included with NHL Center ICE? So I would think RDS HD would be included too.
 
863 was open at 2:12pm today. I saw some eating competition for 2 seconds then it froze. I guess they were testing it with subscribers at random and will be ready for the Game at 7pm.

happy to report that it is up on mine too.

now i can go to work and set a recording for the channel.

tried updating the guide to get hockey at 7pm and it didn't work. i'll have to do a manual timer.

for those who are on the old legacy package, here's what to do.... they'll let you change one of your themes to get le monde en francais. I lost a theme that i didn't watch anyway and switched out to this le monde en francais theme.

i'm thrilled they let me do this. i thought they weren't going to let me and make me switch to genesis, but they didn't force my hand.
 
I have a 9200 and i see it on channel 863.

Do you suscribe to the pack "Le monde en fran
 
I do not but BEV has told other people you only need the HD pack - which I do.

If I won't get it I would expect to see it in pink in the program guide.

Channel 123 RDS SD
Channel 863 RDS HD

I know someone that has channel 123 but is not getting channel 863 !?!

He has:

1) No sub to french networks
2) No sub to "le monde en francais" theme pack
3) Legacy Super 7 package
4) Sub to the HD 10$/month package
5) NHL Centre Ice

If you qualify to get an SD channel and you pay the 10$/month for the HD package, there is NO reason why someone should not get an HD channel that he qualifies for in SD... no?

Is anyone else experiencing the same situation (NHL Centre Ice and RDS SD but no RDS HD)?

P.S. I don't think he has had the time to call BEV CSR's to complain yet but you know how that's going to go... he probably will have to play the CSR roulette game... I hope I can bring him a few examples of people here that are getting the HD RDS with a similar package or have been able to get BEV to add it at no cost with a similar package.
 
Does that mean you can only get RDS HD by adding this pack at $8 or $5 depending on your existing package? As an English sports fan wanting the habs games in HD this is about $40/season for one channel, yes?
 
I mentioned this in the NHL-CI thread and there's at least one other person (plus me) in the same boat. It's annoying because the blackout message on an NHL-CI channel mentions that as an Eastern region subscriber I must watch the game on RDS or RDS-HD. I wasted quite a bit of time on hold and then with the CSR, only to have the CSR tell me that I shouldn't even be getting regular RDS so I was lucky :rolleyes:

Heck, I'd be happier without RDS if it meant I could watch the equivalent NHL-CI feed. At least that way I'd get to watch an English broadcast! I complained to the NHL last year and again this year that regional blackouts should take language into account, but so far they haven't responded.
 
Hey I'm in the same boat, HD package subscriber, NHL centre ice ,receive the RDS sd channel, I phoned EV to ask why I don't get the HD RDS, they put me on hold a couple of times , the rep came and said yes I should be getting the HD channel, and she said it should appear on my guide within 2 hours max., so I waited . The channel never appeard, I phoned the next day different rep he said that I have to subscribe to the french pack to receive RDS HD, the reps are just as confussed as everyone else.

I want my RDS HD
 
I suggest anyone that is getting cooperation from a BEV CSR about getting RDS HD should take down his name and employee number and have him put a note on the account like "customer is entitled to RDS HD"... this way, if they supposedly "flash" your receiver and nothing happens, you can call back and not have to fight for it every time and/or ask for that same person once again.

P.S. They should be able to do this because it is possible to purchase individual channels for 2.50$/month so there is NO reason why they simply could'nt activate that single channel (863) on someone's account (even if they have to "manually" waive that additional 2.50$/month charge).
 
The French HD channels are free as long as you get the corresponding SD theme..altought lots of French suscriber are told otherwise

A French person who only want the French HD only needs a HD receiver, and have the corresponding SD theme

This is why if you want RDS HD you must have RDS SD...
