Razr on Cricket Caveat

Caveat emptor the Cricket Razr: It is V3C, not V3Ci! It does not use Java, but Brew instead. So at this time there is no way to use iTunes on the phone. Which is a moot point because it does not support stereo audio output anyway.

Yet another feature-crippled phone by Cricket.

i have never heard of a v3ci. maybe you are thinking v3m-the cdma razr with itunes that is yet to come out? the razr on cricket should be very similar to verizon's V3c. it even supports obex i believe

You are right. My bad. I made a type-o.

The problem is that iTunes uses Java and the V3C's use Brew, from what I understand. I was over in the Motorola forum trying to see if it was possible to enable Java on the V3C to put iTunes on it, but haven't gotten a definate answer yet.

It's not possible. All Motorola CDMA phones are Brew, not Java, Nokia is the only CDMA carrier that has both java, and brew on the same phone. other phones are either one or the other because the platform is burned onto the chipset for brew

Could someone confirm please the following concerning the Cricket Razr V3C?:

--TRUE stereo output?
--Dedicated MP3/MIDI media file player (WHOLE songs)?

Otherwise, I can't see any reason to choose this phone over my current Slider Remix sans its popular style.

the media player will play whole songs, but i don't think it has any support for playlists at all. i.e. you pick a song and listen to it. then you pick another song and listen to it. i don't know for sure, but i doubt that there is "true stereo output" the phone is not designed at all to be a mp3 player. it really just has basic functionality.

if you want an mp3 player, go with the slider remix. if you want a super skinny motorola, go with the razr!

According to a Motorola fact sheet:

I was told that the Cricket version of the V3C does NOT have a playlist function. The only way to browse your MP3's are if they are saved as ring tones: Then, I hear, you can scroll down the list and play each song.

I may get one for vanity sake, but my main phone will be my Slider Remix.

P.S. @ fordcobra04: Howdy, neighbor! I live right up the street at Stroop and Far Hills!
