I've recently had surgery and have been down for the past 6 weeks. I sit up in bed both awake and to sleep. I have other issues that make lying down very uncomfortable for me. I do get up for short walks in the house and to the bathroom, shower, etc., but I am on my tush all day. I've developed what looked like a rash and then developed into sores between my buttocks. I am heavy, so to adjust myself in bed, I sort of slide on my butt to sit up straighter (hope that makes sense). At this point they are getting better after using neosporin, an ointment for eczema, vaseline, and powders...I've tried everything. I even had large bandaids for a while to try and protect it, but the sticky stuff was too harsh on my skin. No more bandaids. My butt is still tender though. Could this all be caused just from sitting so much? I had some open sores for a while because the powder I was using dried the skin up, and when it started to flake, i pulled it and it took some good skin too. Thats all better now, but i still have some small spots that are tender and get irritated when I have to scoot up in bed.
Any ideas?
