Oh yeah, I completely agree with the moment in Serenity. I think my jaw dropped the first time I saw it and I couldn't believe what had happened. It's so sudden.

[sp]Poor Wash. Poor Zoe too.[/sp]

I'm also going with the end of Fight Club. I just watched it for the first time recently. My friend forced me to watch it cuz she loooves it, and the entire movie I was like, they're gonna be gay together, they're gonna be gay together and then I was like....oh whoops. That's completely wrong

All the death's in Children of Men surprised me. And I just say the movie Up and I was surprised how much I cried during it!

Lust, Caution
Wang and Mr. Yee's 1st intimate encounter , I had forgotten what his job was.

A History of Violence
when 'Joey' re-emerges.

Butterfield 8
The accident, really didn't expect the film to end on that note.

Good to know! I may have to pick up the book someday!

That moment in Serenity shocked me and I haven't even watched Firefly. I was pretty sad too.

The Usual Suspects is such a masterful puzzle.

T3 - When Arnold (T 101) reveals he killed John in the future. For some reason, I can't say I didn't see it coming, but it was still kind of "shocking."

Volver - When it is revealed what happened to Raimunda's father and why.

Scream - Back in the day, I was shocked when Sydney punched Gale.

A Slipping Down Life - When Evie confesses to Casey that she's not a virgin. For some reason, I was really surprised.

Crank- The embarrassing sex scene...in front of EVERYONE.

I kept thinking, "no, they won't go there, there's no way, I mean, come on..." But they totally did.

I still gasp when this parts comes on!

ROCKSTAR, if it helps, I Am Legend the movie is COMPLETELY different from the book, so that doesn't actually happen to Robert's family! Although it's still not all flowers and roses.

I was spared the shock in The Departed, because I'd seen Infernal Affairs (the original). Although of course, watching that the first time round, and seeing what happened at the end, shocked me and made me feel gutted.

Serenity - [sp]When Wash was speared so unexpectedly and out of the blue. I couldn't even move, I was so horrified. It still kills me, honestly. I love Joss Whedon, but I will never forgive him for that.[/sp]

The Usual Suspects - [sp]When you find out that Kevin Spacey IS Keyser Soze, and that he'd made the entire story up. That was some masterful storytelling right there.[/sp]

I can't think what else at the moment, so I'm going to have a think about it!

The ending in Atonement really shocked me.

Also practically everything in the Departed and the end of Fight Club.

Moulin Rouge! - When Christian says "Because she doesn't love you!"

Her Minor Thing - When Paul says "Why don't we? I think we should" in the gym scene. I mean how often do you ever see people actually saying what they feel like that? I couldn't believe it.

Atonement - I never read the book so I was very surprised [sp]when Briony revealed the way Cecilia died. I had a weird feeling about the scene when Robbie confronts Briony but I didn't think that Cecilia was also dead. :bawl: I had tears in my eyes. First time I cried in a theater in a long while.[/sp]

I Am Legend - When Robert [sp]is remembering what happened to his family.[/sp] For some reason, I wasn't expecting that at all.

Same here! I actually was confused as to what was happening. I was like, "no, it can't be.. what?" It didn't progress but it still caught me WAY off guard.

Agreed about Closer's ending. Also, I didn't expect Larry and Ana to end up together after all.

I was going to post the same. I was blown away by the ending, as was the majority of theater patrons watching with me. The entire movie caught me by surprise, actually.

Another scene that caught me by surprise was in Crash, when the little girl runs out to her father as the store owner pulls the trigger. I didn't see it in the theater; I literally had to pause my dvr after that scene.

Atonement was my second all-time favorite book (The Diary of Anne Frank being the first) before the movie was made so I wasn't really all that surprised with its twists. Having said that, Joe Wright was a genius in adapting the book. It was quite a thrill to have found out that they got both James and Keira to play the lead parts as well seeing as I was also a huge fan of them even before they worked for this project.

:spoiler:

MY LIST

+ Stay - I was having a hard time trying to figure out what was actually happening but when it was actually explained in the end, I never expected it.

+ Children Of Men - Julian's death made me jump.

+ A Beautiful Mind - I cried when I found out Charles wasn't real.

+ Meet Joe Black - When that guy from the coffee shop got hit by that car? Never saw it coming. Yep, a loud shriek came from me when I first watched it.

+ Fight Club - C'mon... who knew Travis and Tyler were one and the same? As sure as hell didn't!

+ Penelope - I didn't expect Max to be... not Max.

+ Tuck Everlasting - I somehow expected Winnie not to drink from the spring. However, I expected Jesse to meet her again as an old lady when he got back. However, the actual ending was really really sad. *sniff*

+ Snow Queen - The bear turned to a prince! A hot prince at that! And he has been in love with the Snow Queen since forever! Sure as hell didn't expect that.

+ The Dark Knight - Harvey and Rachel's deaths. I thought they weren't gonna introduce Harvey as Two-Face until the end of the film and that they were gonna feature him as a full-on villain only in the next film. I didn't expect him to be morph and die so early in the franchise. Same for Rachel.

+ Juno - The subtle Mark/Juno romance caught me off guard.

+ The Shawshank Redemption - I really thought Andy committed suicide! I didn't expect the Warden to kill Tommy as well.

+ Four Weddings And A Funeral - When Fiona confessed her love for Charles.

+ Closer - The ending which revealed Alice's real name was actually Jane Jones and that she was actually telling Larry the truth when he asked her for her real name. He didn't believe her and neither did I. But there you go. She was using a dead person's name the entire time!

Seven - The end, I never thought Bad Pitt's character was gonna do it

Psycho - When Norman Bates runs down the stairs screaming and you realize it's him and not his mother

Fight Club - Ofcourse when you find out that Edvard Norton's character is Tyler Durden. I remember how the whole cinema just went really quite in chock,

Seven had a lot of *gasp* moments for me, too. I agree with you about Sloth. That was just horrible the way that guy was tortured for a year with John Doe being so methodical.

I was also surprised when Sommerset implied that maybe Tracy shouldn't keep the baby.

Friday the 13th (2009) - [sp]When Jenna was killed. I was expecting someone to die but I have to be uncool and admit I wasn't fully expecting it when it happened. I was suspicious when she was the last one to get to the escape hole, but I still went *GASP!* when the machete went through her chest.[/sp]

ugh!!! seven!!! a very good film, but some moments. i was blown away by the fact that all of it had been planned down to the day he wanted them to find the guy whose tongue had been cut out. and i wasn't the least bit surprised that brad pitt shot him in the end, i would have been surprised if he hadn't. i was just very surprised at what was in the bucket.

and rear window blew me away, i wouldn't have guessed in a million, just like with the sixth sense & the village, i had no idea.
