Random GTA IV bug that I've run into TWICE at random, wtf car explosion

Haven't seen or heard this mentioned or talked about ANYWHERE even after google searching and looking at a bunch of video game forums...

I'm not very far into the game because I do mostly side missions, like I finished all of the brucie "Steal me this car" missions right away, etc, I'm still in the first part of the city.

Well I'm driving around in a PMP600 sedan, no wanted level, not in a mission, just driving from one place to another, when all of the motherfucking sudden, i'm powersliding around a turn and the fucking car BLOWS THE FUCK UP in that black and white slo-mo, for no fucking reason, and I die. My car had no damage, I didn't hit anything, no where near a gas station or any shit like that, and the best weapon I have right now is a shotgun, so I know i didnt like throw a molotov at myself or something. I figured it was just some stupid shit weird coincidence, I was pissed, but I kind of began to forget about it.

Then, I'm playing the next day, I get into another PMP600, start accelerating, and about 3 seconds into me accelerating, the same fucking thing happens, car just blows up in slo-mo for no reason and it kills me, this time I was just driving in a straight line, nothing anywhere near me, and the fucking PMP600 just blows up and thats it.

I don't know wtf is causing it, but I'm never getting into another PMP600 again.
 
shit happened to me, but it was in a bobcat! Just as I finished a fairly difficult/long mission, I'm about to escape, less than 2 seconds later my car spontaneously combusts and I fail
 
i was doing one of the assassin missions, i took a cab to the target, he parks me right next to the targets convoy, i jack a range rover sitting there and then they start "fleeing", two bullets and boom!
 
Have you seen the underside of a car yet? All the components are pretty easily discernible, although I haven't tried to shoot a gas tank yet.
 
first i've heard of this

i've blown up cars with a few shots from the AR, but never heard of it happening without any shots fired or without hitting an explosive propane tank or something
 
similar thing happened to me although it makes more sense now that I think about it:

chasing down someone I had to kill....long ass car chase, finally get him on a stretch and produce a love tap that ends up putting the car on its side....

he crawls out the top and takes cover behind the vehicle. i have to approach to kill so I do...I get closer to the car (no flames, no black smoke)....closer, closer, closer....(this is my 4th time doing this mission) and...

BOOM. slowmo death screen. either his car or my car exploded. i was between the two. no gunshots, no flames, no nothing...just BOOM.
