Rally, troops, to the "Docs2Go Uninstall Party!"

OK, I think I posted at length on here about the trickiness of uninstalling WordSmith and Pocket Purchase. Leaves a Normal.dot template behind in Application Data, and that's the infernal "WordSmith" button that doesn't go away after uninstall.

For reasons I won't go into, I can't "uninstall" docs2Go - the installer.msi is "missing," and reloading the software, serial number at hand, did no good either and wouldn't "repair/remove."

So I did it manually including the reg entires, and am once again left with the "button," this time in Excel. I have gone back to TinySheet and fixed their "sometimes lame" desktop interface;" it's 294k and more intuitive and syncs Excel Spreadsheets. Also, when you uninstall TinySheet's 1.5MB app, IT IS GONE. ALL OF IT. Good for Iambic (who no longer support it, unfortunately).

Does anyone here have any idea where DataViz "template" or "dll" could be that "powers" that button in Excel? I did find an MS Word templat called DTVZ, which wouldn't be removed without "MoveOnBoot"s help - that wasn't it.

Found a dll registered to DataViz in WINNT/sys32 - nope, that's not it either.

Any clues anyone? After all the fun and success I've had with the PC in the last month "trimming," I'm not going to be done in by a "button!" I emailed Shari Hoffman at Dataviz after ALL their tech support and redownload links went nowhere and timed out . . .

Well, I finally "got through" to the website, found out "DataViz don't support anything other than brand new software versions," and got to the technical "database."

It laid out a similar course of action to HandMarks (in that it didn't work) . . . mentioned the ".dot" (I'd already found), the dll (I'd already found) and then "opening up Excel/tools/add-ins, and uncheck the box." Of course, there's no DTVZ box to uncheck . . . it's gone . . . there's just the button. I'm hearing the voices . . . . .

Anyone having any ideas, I'd be grateful.

Cheers!

Open Excel. While pressing ALT, drag the button off the toolbar.

Icon gone and doesn't come back. I won't worry about the tiny little file/dll - at least it's off the screen.
