radiofrquency nerve burning

Hello All,
Would like to know of other peoples experiences w/the radiofrecency.Did it help or not?
I've had 3 epidurals this year&just had my radiofrequency burning about 2wks.ago.
I haven't seen much progress.I have a herniated disic that's taking over my life.
Help!!!

I am anticipating having a radiofrequency nerve ablation in early August. Bi-lateral most likely at the L3-L4 level. I have heard that it takes a few weeks for the RFA to take effect but it appears you are alreayd 2 weeks into the post-RFA time period. My pain doctor nurabed up the nerves a few weeks ago and since that relief lasted 5 hours he says that's a good indication that RFA may work. Did you go through a pre-RFA test?
 
Had the Radio Freguency Nerve Ablation about two years ago. It didn't help me. I had a complication from the procedure a couple days after. The procedure itself to me was not pleasant, but would have been worth it had it help. So far nothing has helped except surgery and I still find myself spending days in bed. I'm inclinded to believe that after a serious back injury you never really get better. At least not better enough to get back to you life again. The hard part for me is that my life was so good.
 
Hi, I haven't been on here in a long time, but I'm back, and I saw your post.
I had this procedure done over 2 years ago, and while it wasn't the most pleasant thing that I have gone through it was awful to be quite frank with you and I swore I would never do it again when the procedure was done, but it did work for me, even tho it took much longer for it to take effect for me then the average person my doctor never knew why it took longer I'm just an odd one I guess, but after it worked and I was able to do almost anything I would do it again given the fact I had a long time relief of pain. It is just now that I'm starting to get pain again, so I would do it again if I have to in the future to ward off surgery, and I've been through many surgeries all on my neck for fusions and I did try injections etc...on my neck and nothing worked for my neck area, but everything worked for my lurabar area.

I have had this procedure done on my lurabar facet joints, and it has helped my pain a lot! It lasts about 8 months for me, and I have repeated it with good success. It does take a few weeks to recover-you can do things, but need to take breaks and rest. It has allowed me to sit and stand longer. Hope it is helping you, and that your pain has gone down a bit. I am checking inn to see how the FR treatment worked. I am going to have a consult this week and am quite nervous about it. I am one of those questionable canidates? The test procedures were not 100% effective - but the Dr. thought a little relief might be worth it for me. I want to know TRULT what the recovery time is. All the Dr. sites quote 1-3 days and you are back at it. All the personal experiences say 3-4 weeks and longer if the nerve is not fully ablated. Does anyone know the differenc ebetween pulse and constant during the procedure? Any help is appreciated. RockofAges09
 
Hi! The best way to describe the recovery is this: Allow 3 days to just rest and ice. Then for the next 3-4 weeks you can go through your day, but you will not see the full results of the RFA yet. You also may get bad muscle spasms during this time, if you overdue things. This is because it takes 3-4 weeks for the area to heal from the procedure, and the nerve endings take a while to die out. At about 4 weeks, you will start feeling the relief from the nerve burning. (I have heard it takes up to 6 weeks for some people, for me it is about 4 weeks). I hope that helps! I believe my doctor uses "constant" not "pulsed" radiofrequency. Kera4
