I have Digenerative Disk/Sciatica with Arthritis. I had one Steroid treatment with some injections for the Arthritis on 7/07/08. It worked for 2 months. My Dr. said I am a good candidate for the Radiofrequency Rhiztomy Ablation and I am having it done on 11/5 and 11/19. Are there any side effects? Is it painful? Recouperation? Success rate?
Many thanks for any information you can give. I am a little nervous about this procedure.

Hi! I have had several rhizotomies on my lurabar facet joints (L3-L5). They usually last about 8 months for me. The procedure is a bit more painful than the shots, but they will give you light sedation and put nurabing medicine in the area. It really helps with my pain! The procedure takes about 40 minutes-and my doctor was burning both sides of each joint. For the first two weeks afterward I am sore-but I can do what I need to do. I just have to take breaks and ice during the day. For me it is worth it, because I have chronic arthritis that is not going away. I also get periodic cortisone shots in the sacroiliac area. Take care, Kera4
