Hi, just was wondering what the mast is exactly. Its about 15m tall and square based. It is wired for the use of cb radios i am told and i just wondered what the limits to these things were (such as phone tapping??) and other knoledge such as whether this needs planningm permision???
please excuse typing errors

The radio mast possibly could be an amateur radio station and would have applied for permission also would or should have been tested to make sure that it didn't cause any interference with television in a certain radius, the height you mention makes me think it's either the amateur I mentioned or it could be someone working a taxi business or the area you live is very much built up, and he is just trying to get a signal over the local houses etc..As an ex CB operator very few CB rs would use an mast that would attract a lot of attention, even though he/she is a legal operator of FM I doubt if a mast this big would be necessary as FM doesn't have the range of an amateur, or someone operating a non legal CB which would be AM or a sidebands.Sidebanders and amateur try to get contacts round the world hence the high mast, as I have done some time ago. hence the name Winefly this was my CB handle on local legal CB. It's great fun and I made a lot of friends through it why not try it sometime?ask you neighbour what he/she operates that you are interested. So if you are not getting any interference on your TV or radio your only complaint is that the mast is unsightly, therefor you will have to put a complaint into you local council. The person operating a CB is have innocent fun talking to others as you do through the use of your computer, why spoil others enjoyment? To answer your question yes permission should have been aplied for, for a mast of this hight.I doubt very much if the mast is to listen into your phone conversations, to do this you don't require a mast of any discription but a hand held unit or receiver can be bought no problem.
