...leads to battery...works fine? ok, tested the fan using leads to the batt. fan works but it won't turn on when it should. I checked the fuses..all fine. We had our ac compressor changed a while back but the shop left the ac system empty, I said I would fill it in the spring. My wife turned the ac on once for a short time, I told her not to use it until I get it filled. I need to get the fan working. would her turning the ac on affect anything? I don't really know much about relays or how to reset the computer....etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks, Jerry and Jo-Ann

The relay is the first thing to check. It should be under the hood near the battery in a box with the fuses.Your owners manual will have a diagram showing which are the fan relays. They are a little cube about 1 inch square.I'm not sure if there is a separate relay for the ac and the cooling but if so swap them and see if the fan comes on.If so replace the bad one.If the relays are ok then it's more than likely the temperature cooling switch. You'll have to look to see where that is.Some are near the thermostat housing or on the engine block near the housing. And you should have the ac system charged. It has lubricant in it to keep the compressor seals from drying out.It would be a shame to ruin a new compressor head.

hi jerry and jo ann ! it sounds like the fan relay went bad. there should be a relay by the fan and you unhook the battery, change it and hook the battery back up.
