I have recently nursed a baby raccoon back to life. Saved him from parvo and have grown quite attached to him. I want to keep him until I believe he is big enough to go to a more professional home that has dealt with older raccoons.
But I need to take him to the vet to get his rabies vac. and I would like to have him neutered. But I dont know if Oklahoma law allows you to have a pet raccoon. And I've been told that if I take him to the Vet And They don't allow them as pets then I could get fined.
I've looked at many websites and none of them has let me know the laws on raccons except for hunting them.
If you know these laws or the website...Please let me know.
I appreciate the help.
(Oh and I don't believe in keeping wild animals as pets. This one was a baby in dier need of help, And once they are loved by humans they can't successfully be returned back into the wild. Believe me, I would much rather have him in a tree than climbing on my stuff.)
