Sorry, I should be more specific. What exact type of tax pays for Federal Highways?
Whenever I advocate eliminating the federal income tax people insist that we will lose roads, police, fire, and military service. I would like to know what type of taxes are supposed to pay for each of these services?

Military?
National Highway System?
State highways?
County Roads?
City streets?
Sheriff, police, fire service?
Public Schools?

Nonsense.

Do most of these knuckleheads know we had NO INCOME TAX on individual citizens prior to WW II?

INCOME is what a COMPANY produces when they take raw materials + labor.. .and produce something they sell for a PROFIT.

What you and I earn in our paychecks is NOT "income". It is a 1-for-1 trade of LABOR & TALENT, in equal exchange for CURRENCY. There is no "profit"... only a trade.

Income tax is ILLEGAL.... and history proves is NOT NECESSARY for the government to function.

YET IT PROVES... that ONCE the government TAKES or ESTABLISHES something.... FOREVER will it keep taking and always remain.

IF the Obamacare passes..... and is a disaster..... it will FOREVER exist. That's just the way it is. Once it exists, it becomes a permanent part of the "system".

Military: Federal
NHS: Federal
State Highways: State
County Roads: Sales tax
City Streets: City taxes
Sherrif, police, fire service: City tax
Public schools: Property tax.

The federal government collects only a little more than 1/3 of their revenue from income tax, the also have payroll taxes that funds social security and medicare, tariffs, corporate, and excise taxes on things like gas and cigarettes.
State pay most of the cost for all except the first two but states get federal aid for schools and law enforcement. Most states also have income tax as well as excise, corporate, sales and property taxes
You left out two big ticket items in addition to social security and Medicare, the interest on the debt and Medicaid, which is shared with the states..

Except income and corporate taxes on profits, all the taxes are regressive, that is the richer your are the smaller fraction of your income is used to pay the tax.
