quitting with att but not really?

if i get the dell aero from att but i also want the palm pre plus, i can get get the dell aero and get the pre plus no commitment and switch phones. but what i am asking is i can just asking is that can i just buy the dell aero on contract and then say that i "lost" the phone then my contract ends and i get the palm pre on another contract and now i have 2 phones. what i am asking is that will what i just stated really work?
