I have bad news and good news. I already had a ulcer before, and yesterday when I was vomiting all day, I was throwing up blood, and I mean this was red stuff, I was bleeding internally. I talked to my mom about it, and my father had a ulcer and it was left untreated and my mom saved his life. He had to have stomach surgery in the emergency room, because the aciRAB in his stomach was going to other organs in his body, so that meant he had a hole in his stomach. I'm going to get a test to find out if I have had a ulcer and too find out if I have a hole in my stomach. The good news is my drinking days are over permanently without having to go to AA, because drinking on a ulcer can kill me. I don't drink if I want to live. I have to check my stool to find out if I got blood in it.

Take it from me don't drink and if you had already started then quit, because this stuff can and will killl you. You heard my story of throwing up blood is from a bleeding ulcer. Now it's just a matter of finding out if I have a hole in my stomach. Even though I don't drink no more I have to get my ulcer treated or I will die even without drinking anymore. Me not being able to drink any more is going to make some family merabers proud of me, but I have no choice. I don't drink anymore if I want to live, and I have to get my ulcer treated or I still will die. Don't end up like me don't drink, and if you have started drinking then stop. Alcohol can and will kill you.

SounRAB like you have excellent resolve to quit drinking. I have no idea how much of a problem it was for you, but if you are an alcoholic, you may still want to attend some AA meetings. They're great for this condition. The temptation will be there for you down the road when you are feeling better, believe me! I lived this with my father!!

SounRAB like a good incentive to quit drinking. A matter of life and death. It worked for me. I drank heavy for a lot of years. One morning after a good drunk, i had a seizure. Ended up in the hospital. Well, after extended tests, doc said i had an alcohol induced seizure. He said once this has happened, any future alcohol consumption would spark the seizure again. The only difference in the second seizure from the first?......he said the second one had a 99% chance of killing me. Well, needless to say, I haven't had a drink since. Sure, it was hard to quit since everything i did evolved around alcohol. I thought my life was over. I'd NEVER be able to go out and have a good time again. It actually scared the bajeezzus outta me. Well, it took a while, but here I am 12 years later doin fine without it. That's my alcohol story. Now days, I'm working on the same happy ending to my drug story.

Way to go SpongeBob - don't soak up anymore alcohol!! Yes, it will kill you and with your condition you may have caught it in time. Still plan on going to the AA meetings because you will find it hard to stay the straight line after your stomach is healed and listening to the people in AA, their stories, and having someone to call and talk to when you feel the urge returning is something you will need.

Let us know how your tests go and this is the place for encouragement and answers to your questions.

Yes I still will go to AA meetings when I start feeling better. I have learned my lesson the hard way. I'm starting to feel a little better. I have been warned that drinking can cause an ulcer, but stuburn me had to learn the hard way. Just by knowing that drinking can kill me now, because of an ulcer is a big deterant, because I don't want to die, but I know some day I will feel better, so I keep coming back to AA meetings. This ulcer is my rock bottom bitter enRAB. I will let you know what the test results are.
