Quick question : Why are my converted SMARTMOVIE files the same size as the source?

Hey guys im trying to put some family guy episodes on my 6670, im using the exvid encoder, no cropping, 208*176 res 128 KB bitrate and 40kb sound. Yet the file the same size, or larger than the sorce !?! this does not make sence, at the bottom left hand corner it says the estimated file result, the sorce was 42 give or take, but it said it should be compressed to 26, but the end result is STILL 42.

Any help? am I missing a step?

That is odd, normally, if you have a 550 - 600meg file you will end up with something in the 120meg range.

it's always much less. a 20mb will result in for example 5 megabytes.
That's been my experience.

I know, its very strange im still confused on the whole thing. The source was MPEG and the final was AVI. Any other ideas on what I should try? ( and what would the sorce quality have to do with anything) maybe I can try to dload a different version?

AVI files are biger then mpeg!! so of course its gonna be bigger...

so what can I do in this case? I dont understand how people are going from such large files to small.

you cant really do anything, cept convert it to.3gp or mp4. meyby someone else can help you, i dont like working with mpeg!! sry

I think that 3gp format is bunk ( so I heard after doing many searches on this forum )

maybe putting it to mp4? would this reduce quality? or simply compress it more efficently to downsize the file?
