Hi all,
I'm currently in my junior year as an undergrad and I have applied to transfer to a few UCs & UW for Fall 2011 (I would like get my BS in Biology and then apply for dental school).
My personal life is not well right now. As soon as I find out where I'm accepted I'm breaking up with my 4 year fiance and moving out on my own, assuming I can wait until April to do this. I work part-time and I'm one credit-hour short of full-time student status. I'm taking the second general chemistry class of the series and calculus II. The chemistry has been tough for me from the first class and math has never been my strong subject but I have managed to keep a B average from precalc I & II, and last quarter my first C+ on my transcript was posted for calc I. My grade in calc II is suffering greatly, my calc II tutor is not helpful and I have no family support where I am because I moved across two states to be with my fiance, therefore, I wonder which options will make this situation better while considering the math requirements for dental school and a BS in Biology.
With the above information in mind, would it behoove me to drop (I will have a "W" posted on my transcript; my first and hopefully the only) calc II and concentrate on earning strong marks in general chemistry II? My school runs on the quarter system and I have gleaned from pre-dental forums that generally only one "semester" of calc is required at some dental schools. I'm not certain if I need Calc II for my undergrad major or dental school so it doesn't make much sense to struggle for naught when my personal life is interfering with my academic success.
A detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated. If you have any related links to share, please do.
Thank you very much in advance! And I apologize for the "wall of text" but everything I mentioned is affecting the other and I really do need sound advice.
Other miscellaneous information: according to ADEA GPA calculations my undergrad GPA is 3.79, BCP GPA is 3.67, & science GPA (BCPM & other science) is 3.32.
