Questions about wireless bluetooth headset?

i'm finally gonna 'keep up with the times' and want to purchase a wireless bluetooth headset; but i really dont know much about them!
What kind of batteries does a bluetooth headset take? i couldnt find ANY information on it.

I have 3 cellphones i regularly switch out: an LG enV3, a Samsung Comeback T559, and a Samsung SGH-A187.

I PREFER it if i could use one thats compatible with all 3 of them. Does a universal wireless bluetooth headset work JUST as well as a headset that it strictly for a particular phone??

Do they sell chargers for a bluetooth headset?

I know how to turn my bluetooth on my phone. but i havent made the purchase YET for a headset.

And, does it matter if i get a regular Samsung bluetooth headset, or do i need a headset for THAT particular phone type.

i just dont really understand why they make so many different versions of bluetooth, one for a specific model or brand. i guess to cash in?

i will not be having 3 phones turned on at once lol i was saying that when i get tired of one phone, i just take out the sim card and use it for another phone, but i do know how to turn my bluetooth off. So am i still okay with using it for 3 phones?

oh, btw you say ALL bluetooth headsets come with a charger. even off of websites like Amazon or Ebay? Most of the ones i have looked up dont mention anything about a charger coming with it D:

The battery is a lithium-ion type, built into the headset. It doesn't come out. All Bluetooth (henceforth "BT") headsets come with a charger. In most models they can also be recharged with a microUSB cable plugged into a laptop or other computer, or a standard USB wall charger. You will get a lot more "talk time" per charge out of the headset than out of your phone, so keeping it charged isn't much of a problem.

All BT headsets are "universal" - there is nothing phone-specific about any of them. e.g. a Samsung BT headset will not work any better with a Samsung phone than any other BT headset. The BT protocol (a fancy word used in the computer business for "how one thing talks to another") is an industry-wide standard.

There is a problem, though, with your having three phones. When you get a BT headset you go through a little procedure to "pair" it with your phone. You go into the menus on the phone to get it ready for pairing, then you do something on the headset like pressing one button for a long time - the manual that comes with the headset will have details; they're all different.

Now, most BT headsets can be paired with two different phones. Not three. That means that (after pairing) it will "just work" with whichever phone is on with its BT enabled. if both phones are on, nearby, and with BT enabled, there's a way on the headset to switch from one phone to the other.

Three phones, though... I have not heard of a BT headset that can be paired with three phones at once. Your best case is that you could leave it paired with one phone and then re-pair it with each of the other two phones as needed. That's a pain to do very often. I'd suggest finding a way to not use one of the phones so much, or else just get a second BT headset. (They will not interfere with each other.)

fwiw, I'm really happy with the performance and features on the Plantronics Voyager Pro+. It is one of the more expensive models at the moment, but it is easily the best BT headset I've used, in all ways: Performance, features, and comfort. Its only drawback is that when you play music on the phone the headset only plays one channel - it really should mix the two channels into the one earpiece. You can get BT headsets with a second earpiece so that it'll properly play stereo sound, if that matters to you.

Sure, but you'll have to re-pair it when you go to the phone that isn't currently paired. Unless you can find a BT headset that can be paired with 3 phones.

Haven't tried that one, but Plantronics seems to make good headsets in general. And it's a heck of a discount.

As long as it's new, sure. the Plantronics you linked definitely does. "What's in the Box
Headset, ear tip, ear loop, AC charger, desktop charging cradle, printed operating instructions"

Of course I haven't tried every BT headset out there (only about 10... I keep losing them) but every one has come with a charger.
