Questions about sidekick lx 2009?!?

Im getting a sidekick lx 2009 soon. But im worried about the things i hear from the reveiws about it. Is it true it wont alert you if you have a text? Or that it wont show the contacts name when they text you? The reveiws were from 2 years ago so im wondering if the phones been updated since then . Help! Haha
