questions about pregnant fish?

1. are koi livebearers?

2. how can you tell if a fish is pregnant? how round would the belly be? i have a male and a female, i think they are koi (please don't beat me up for not knowing!), and the female looks round in the belly. will they be hanging around each other a lot of she is pregnant, cuz they're not. but she does look different than before (the male has recently been introduced). the male is kind of lethargic, actually. how can i tell? and if she is pregnant, what should i do? they are the only two in the tank, btw, so i don't think they need to be moved to a separate tank.
 
Koi are Goldfish, and no, Goldfish lay eggs. You should be seeing the male chase the female around, and bumping her in the anus, and in the side of her belly. If she is pregnant, you will see her belly become very budging like, and very round. She will eventually, after being chased around for hours, become tired, and release the eggs everywhere. If you want babies to come, and live, you should remove the eggs, since the parents will gobble them up as soon as they are laid.
