Questions about my used honda civic 2006?

I've purchased a used civic 2006 and it makes a loud whirling noise or I guess spinning noise. What could this be?? I've been looking around on the internet and noticed that the civic 06 had a recall on a bearing??? Would this recall apply to me if the previous owner did not get it taken care of?
