Questions about Marine training after boot camp..?

I'm enlisting into the Marines in a few months, and I'm doing a report on the USMC for school.

What does MCT / SOI stand for? How long are you there after boot camp?

How long are you at your MOS school?
 
Marine Combat Training
School of Infantry

SOI=59 days
MCT=29 days

Depends on what your MOS is. Some run a few weeks, while others can run 6 months
 
They didn't have MCT and SOI as a requirement when I went through, so after basic I went right to 29 stumps for 2542 (Satcomm engineering) training which lasted 6 months.
 
MCT = Marine Combat Training (for non infantry)
SOI = School of Infantry (infantry)

MCT is 1 month
SOI is 2 months

MOS school time varies. Aviation Ordinance....about 6 months till you hit the fleet.
