1) he fell off the bike, breaking his left leg.
2) he fell off the bike, which made his left leg broken.
some people say "2" is wrong but i don't know why it is wrong?
i want to say the reason why i use "which" in the sentence "2" is i want to use it to modify the sentence forward---" he fell off the bike" not the word "bike". maybe i cannot do that but i don't know why?
i have another similar example:
3) he was late for work again, which made his boss very angry.
why "which" in the sentence "3" can modify the sentence forward--"he was late for work again"? but in the sentence "2" which cannot do the same thing?
this question has confused me for a long time, hopefully someone can help me out!
i hope to get some answers from native speakers of english. thanks!
