Questions about iPod/MP3 players?

Can you put any mp3 files on to an ipod? I want one but I looked at the site and it looked like you could only put music you downloaded from apple's site on them. Also is an iPod only compatable with a mac?

I own an iPod and I was able to rip the cRAB that I own into mp3s and put it on my iPod. It's fully compatible with Windows.

you can put ANY file on an ipod. you could use it as an external hard drive if you wanted.
