My dad gave me his Motobecane 600DS mountaint bike. I have questions about adjustments.
How high should my seat be? Right now it is high enough so that when my leg is at the bottom, my knee is slightly bent.
How high should my handlebars be? They are a tad higher than my seat, but should I make them a little higher?
What about tire pressure? The recommended is from 40-65 PSI. (I'm not sure if they are tubeless or not -- do you think they are? The bike is a few years old.)
Also, I went to a bike shop and got a "tune-up" -- he trued the rims, added something to the brake, and said I needed a new chain. Do you think I really needed a new chain -- I mean, my dad only rode the bike about 60 miles, but as I said, the bike is probably 5 years old.
Also -- I'm having lower back pain from riding. What could be causing this? I bought a seat cover today so the seat is much more comfortable, and the bike shop guy adjusted the seat angle to be level (it was tilted way too far upward, which HURT my family jewels).
The guy also inflated the tires to the maximum. For some reason, after the tuneup, which I paid $70 total, it seems to ride a bit slower. Before I could go 17 MPH max, now 15 MPH seems to be it, but it was windy, so I don't know.
I am using this as a STREET BIKE for commuting, mostly riding on the street and sidewalks when the street isn't safe.
THANKS!!
P.S. This is a Double Suspension bike -- is that good or bad?
