Question regarding stopping a medication!!

:confused:Can you stop taking Nityptolyine after taking 6 capsules (one a day) over the last week without causing problems?
I was put on it for the 'suspected' cause of head pressure, without the pain, by an Ent doctor---who has referred me to a Neurologist and I see him next week.
I didn't post this on the inner ear board, because it's not a question about that, but the medication itself, which is used to treat migraines and is also used as an anti-depressant.

I know it's not advisable to discontinue certain meds suddenly but that is if you've been on them awhile. I've only taken a 25 mg. dosage each day (6 capsules) the last six days. I want to stop them until I see a Neuro doctor next week.
They are making me 'worse' and I feel dizzy and actually drugged!
I know the dizzyness is a side effect, but feel perhaps this is too strong a dose and I don't want to have the Ent doctor cut the dose and then have the Neuro doctor change it altogether. I feel the best thing is to stop it until I see him. Anyone here have this experience with this drug and stopping it or being on it awhile? thanks

this type of question can and should ONLY be asked of an actual pharmacist or the doc who placed you on it. there are just way too many variables that are more specific to YOU and the reasons for being placed on any med really that you just really DO need the advice from the experts on meds to really know for certain any med is safe to abruptly stop without what could be with certain meds, pretty severe side effects or some form of actual WD syndrome.

it sounds like if this is indeed some type of anti D drug, almost all of those just have to be tapered off of to some degree in most cases(i personally have been on many different types of anti Ds too). i would talk to your pharm about what this can and cannot DO to you first then simply call the neuros office who placed you on it and tell them what you mentioned here about intolerable side effects. in most cases, they will come up with some type of a good taper plan for you. i just would not suddenly stop this type of med unless you are actually told by your doc and pharm that it is okay to just do that first. better safe than sorry when it comes to any meds in any way, ya know? good luck with this and your condition too.
