All of a sudden for the past few weeks I have trouble taking a deep breathe. I went to the doctor and they thought it was a upper resp infection so they gave me some antibiotics. Didnt help. It comes and goes. I have this constant clearing of my throat. Ill be fine and then all of a sudden I just cant breathe deeply. It starts from my stomach and then up. Can you get asthma at an age? Im 40 . What are the symptoms of adult asthma?

You can certainly get asthma as an adult. I was diagnosed in my 30's.

There are multiple asthma symptoms. The most common involve shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. There are some other asthma warning signs that people sometimes have as well. I have a sticky thread at the top of this board that goes more in detail on those.

The symptoms you describe also sound like they could be acid reflux. You might want to visit the acid reflux board. Do as search for LPR. It is a form of reflux that has throat symptoms. Most of the time, it doesn't involve heartburn. I have LPR and for me the acid was actually irritating my lungs as well.
