I came across a 1986 305 camaro with 144K...for $2000 OBO (Ontario, Canada). Now, I've been checking weekly online for camaros and this one seems to take the cake! Here's what the add said.

Restored
Great Condition
T-roof
Drives great.
Grey exterior
Nothing to Certify
No E-test needed
Lady driven

Now its the BASELINE model. Sports coupe. I'm 17 and I have been wanting a camaro since I was 13. I am a very responsible driver. I want a camaro with power and speed when I step on the petal. Can this camaro satisfy my needs? Or would a z28 or Iroc be the way. I've got roughly 4,000 to spend.

Mind you i'm not one of those street racing punks. I know my limits and racing/ showing off is not my forte. But that doesn't mean I can't have a car with power when I want it!

Thanks,.

The add sounds too good to be true so I would look at the car first. It sounds like one that someone quick fixed with alot of bondo and a cheap paint job but you never know for sure till you look. The 305 in this will give it average acceleration, don't expect it to waste everything on the road or anything because fact is it isn't that fast but it is still a fun ride that will get some attention and easily keep up with traffic. The performance is probably around the same as a Sunfire GT with a stick. No doubt about it you can always upgrade the 305 to give it more get up and go or if you get really serous it is easy to drop in a 350. If the car is as good as it sounds I would buy it and spend the other $2000 on upgrades rather then wasting all $4000 on a bagged Z-28 or Iroc, also this one has the T-roof option which is pretty cool and will add the the resale value for sure. Good luck!

Sounds like a steal. Take someone with you who knows cars or take it to a good mechanic to check it out for you. You can always customize it to your tastes and have a great car. Good luck.
