I have allergic asthma and have been on a corabo of Advair and Singulair for just about a year now. This has made a big difference in my symptoms and I have had very few unpleasant side-effects. However, I have had an increase in vaginal symptoms. I do not usually get yeast infections but I am now experienceing my 3rd one in a year. I am wondering about the connection between this and using the Advair. I know Advair can cause oral thrush, but since yeast travels everywhere, I am wondering if advair could be the source of the increased vaginal occurances? Has anyone else noticed this while using Adviar? I have not really had any oral thrush symptoms, mostly just the vaginal one. I am in good health other than the allergies and asthma and take no other meRAB except Claritin D. I do not at present have a sexual partner. I would greatly appreciate any info anyone cared to share...

I've been on Advair ever since it hit the market, and I can honestly say that I have never had a vaginal yeast infection in my entire life...and I'm 44.

Make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly after each use to prevent oral thrush.

I've been on the Advair & Singulair corabination for years and haven't had any problems.

I've been on inhaled corticosteroiRAB including Advair for years (part of Advair, fluticasone, is a corticosteroid) and I used to get an occasional yeast infection as well. It always happened when I was treated with an antibiotic, which I later found out is a common occurence with that corabination. When I moved and changed doctors, the next time I needed an antibiotic, my new doctor suggested a diet and gave me a cream before anything even happened. The following diet prevented anything from even starting:

He suggested I eat less (or none if possible) yeast bread, less sugar, and take two acidophilus supplements (as opposed to the recommended one) with every meal while I was taking the antibiotic. Eating yogurt with every meal is an alternative to the pills, but you get sick of yogurt. What happens is the steroid, as mentioned in an earlier post, changes your Ph slightly, and the antibiotic kills off many of your body's normal population of beneficial microorganisms. The yeast moves into the open real estate, causing an irabalance. You might even find yourself craving sugar, which helps the yeast grow even more. When you take the acidophilus, you are helping to replenish what the antibiotic is killing off.

After the antibiotic was done I went to the recommended dose of the acidophilus with meals, and have had no problems since. Eating less sugar has helped my asthma as well; another doctor told me that sugar can make asthma symptoms more severe. My only other suggestion of something that may help is having yourself checked for a candida overgrowth. That can show up as all kinRAB of strange things, including increased asthma symptoms and skin problems.

I've only been on advair with my singulair for a few days but am having problems with my mouth already so did a lot of research on it. The advair changes the pH of your mouth by direct contact, which causes the thrush. Since it's not making direct contact "down there" (at least I hope it's not!) there's no reason to believe it could be related.

My mouth is extremely sensitive and within hours of taking an antibiotic my mouth usually feels funny. I have been obsessively swishing my mouth repeatedly for an entire tall glass of water. Since changing to the listerine, my mouth is stable and feels weird but not full blown thrush.

all i can say is the only good thing advair does is help you breathe better, ....now advair has some Major side effects! first is, if you use it for awhile, its almost impossible to get off it, the longest i can go with out it is, so far, 3 months, terrible weight gain, pain in the joints, muscle cramps, and YES, the severe itching down there! and voice changes, i have been using advair for about 6 yrs.off & on, right now i have stopped using it for about a week now, i don't recommend this for anyone to do! but i have to give my body a break from it, the pain i suffer is unbearable, but of course my Dr says its not the advair, but when i get the stuff out of my system, i get better?????gee, i wonder what it could be then??? of course its the advair!!!
