Question for those who have read "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer!!?

Ok so this may be a lil perverted but i am so confused...U know when Bella and Edward are on there honeymoon and they have sex, how is it that he breaks the headboard thingy?? What is he doing cuz it doesnt make sense to me. If she isnt getting hurt wat the hell is he doing?! Thx
 
I think he was retraining himself from hurting and he was so stressed he gripped the headboard too hard, and yeah eww! she gets pregntant i didn't know male vampires still had that down there =P!
