I am currently on a printmaking course and have learnt about basic monotype printmaking as well as silkscreen and photo etching, hard ground and aquatint.

However, prices to use this studio are expensive and I would like to produce small to medium sized monotone prints of a style that is painterly and loose. I know that my images are good, saleable and my teacher has commented on my recent images.

My question is

Is digital inkjet printing a form of fine printmaking?

I would combine handmade and digital techniques to develop images and print using only the finest cotton rag paper and inks.

Is digital inkjet seen as a lesser artform, and even so, will galleries be democratic if I wanted to present limited runs of digital prints, which I know are commercial yet have their own internal language and so could be appreciated by someone who values pictorial language.

Can I sell work and class myself as a printmaker using solely inkjet prints? Thanks for your time.
sorry, monochrome!
