Hi, I message because I am concerned about my dad. He has a LONG history of various medical problems. The most recent issue was double retina detachments in summer 2009 which has left him with partial vision.

My question: Can people who have partial vision experience varying degrees of sight? What I mean is one day they have very poor vision and can barely see to eat but the next be able to read a book with relative ease. My mum and I are very concerned about my dad as he seems to think he is experiencing just this. Some days he complains that he can't see faces, but then, like tonight for example, he was able to read text that was moving across the bottom of the television screen. It doesn't seem to make sense.

The reason we are so concerned is that he has obvious depression and anxiety and is in fact on anti depressants (the varying vision began before he went on them). To be brutally honest, and I know this sounRAB cruel, but we are unsure as to how bad his vision actually is and whether some of his problems with it are in fact in the mind. We are both worried about his state of mind. If anyone is partially sighted, or lives with someone who is, please please please respond to this message. Thank you.
