Da- I know a place

My friends, co-workers, family all have developed high tolerance to minimal sleep. Most of them say that they sleep for only 6-7 hours: They sleep around 12 or 1 and get up at about 6 to 7 in the morning. Now, if I did that, I would definitely not wake up as easily as any of those people would. Actually, usually I sleep at about 10 or 11 and I wake up around 8; and STILL I would have trouble getting up.
To me, this is a big issue, how do the Marines do it?
I'm aware they barely even sleep and they can get through their daily training.. I can't even get through a day of college with that amount of sleep.
Some things you ought to know before you answer
1) Someone's already recommended I shut out sound and light
--> Yes I already try to do that, but I share a room with a family member: he goes in and out the room sometimes (not all the time) and that usually wakes me up... But thats no excuse for the marines; as I said before.
2)Excercise Daily, Eat healthy?
I eat a bowl of mixed fruit every morning. I try to fit in some excercise every day,but school's pretty demanding in time. But lugging my heavy back pack around campus seems like enough conditioning.
My point: How can I wake up easier, just like my friends, family ,co-workers... everyone else
