Question abt PVR

Hi Guys,

I finally got Bell TV couple days back, and I'm renting the PVR (i believe its 5600).

As i don't know a lot about PVRs, can i watch one channel and record something on another channel?
When i was playing around with it, i noticed that i have to be watching the channel that is recording. Anytime i try switching to another channel, i have to cancel the recording to go to live mode.
Am i doing something wrong? Or is my PVR limited to record the channel i'm watching.
Any help would be great.
 
It's a 5900. You cannot record and watch a second live feed at the same time, although you can record live tv and watch prereorded TV at the same time.
 
You need a dual tuner PVR, such as the 9241 to watch one show live while recording another. I rarely watch anything live and prefer to watch prerecorded shows. With the 5900, you can watch a prerecorded show while recording another. If you really want to watch a live show while recording another, renting a receiver for $3/mo may be a good option.
