Is it more efficient to work out at the gym than it is at home? I have been working for nearly a year and haven't noticed significant changes and figured this was due to the fact that im working out at home rather than at a gym properly. BTW i haven't stuck to one routine... I've changed at least 2 or 3 times.
I'm thinking of selling my weights and joining a gym with a friends but am not sure how to work my way around the gym because there is so many equipments, so i wouldn't know what is for what and if working out on one machine is necessary or not. Plus, how do you complete sets at the gym? do you rotate for machine to machine or just wait there sitting on the machine between the set intervals.
Another question is about drinking whey protein. before or after? i can only afford to drink whey protein once a day on the day of my workout so which do you prefer, and does whey protein really help?
Last question is that i am a 17 year old male and am concerned with growth in terms of height. If i work out my leg muscles for example doing dead lifts, does that affect my full potential of growth in terms of height in the long run or is it actually beneficial? I ask this because i keep thinking that if you work out your leg muscles, you're putting stress on the bones therefore preventing them from growing =/ i don't know if that is true though.
I am not looking to lose fat and have more definition, for now i only want to gain large amounts of muscle mass.
thanks for your time, i know it's been a long question, really appreciate all the help.
PEACE
I would also like someone to suggest a very good work out routines that worked for them in terms of gaining muscle when you were a beginner like me. Preferably, working out different muscle groups on different days and how many set, reps, etc
