Question about Verizon phones?

Yes it does. When you activate a smartphone, the data plan is automatically added to your line regardless of where you bought it from. Keep in mind that with any phone purchased online, it will not have any kind of warranty and is ineligible for insurance. Also, with any phone purchased online, there's a risk of it being lost or stolen. So get the ESN from the seller before you buy, and confirm it with Verizon, if that's what you end up doing.

I know that if I wanted to buy a new blackberry from the Verizon store for my update that I would have to pay the extra surcharge of $29.99 per month on the data plan. Does this cost still apply if I buy a used old, discontinued Blackberry (like the Blackberry Pearl) from e-bay?
