If I current have a blackberry and want to get a spare 3g phone. Specifically speaking of the Sony Ericsson TM506 as an example. Would I be able to use the 3g is I put my sims card into the spare phone? Or would it just be EDGE?

I'm not sure if that phone is on t-mo's 3g frequency or not. My question is, is the phone unlocked? If it's not unlocked, you won't be getting anything on it lol.

Well its a tmobile phone, I'm on tmobile. Didnt think it needed to be unlocked.
Ok let me change my question up, it doesnt have to be a 3g phone.

Anyone use a spare tmobile phone for txting purposes and just to switch it up a bit from time to time with one sims card?

When I switched fron the razor 2 BB all I did was switch sim card to BB.most recentli I had BB trackball so I used a spare samsung belonging to mi daughter and used hers for 3 weeks still had access m internet to serviced... T-mobile
Hope that helps 2 answer.

You should jus tbe able to switch the card and have service....service is with the card, not the phone. That being said---if you have (for example) a normal phone (no internet) and then put your card into a phone with internet, you will be charged with internet fees

Oh ok, well the Sony phone I originally mentioned is a 3G phone so I'm assuming I would have to have my plan changed for the 3G to work? I'm not sure about that part. But if thats the case then it wont be easy to switch back and forth.

you will be able to just change your sim card to spare phone, the only thing as mentioned above is that if the 3g phone you have does not match tmo frequency then you will only get edge
