Question about tropical fish?

Are fish bothered by the hood light? I'm supposed to leave the hood light of the aquarium on 8-12 hours each day. When should I keepit on? Do fish like the dark? Thanks lol I get them tomorrow and I need to be sure about what they like.

It depends on the fish - Hatchetfish dont like light and need shade. You can supply caves or other areas for fish to hide that dont like light. Most fish are not bothered. Snails prefer dark.I suspect you have live plants and that is why you need the light.
 
fish arent bothered by the light, turn the light on when the sun comes up in the morning idk its about 7 here and off when it is setting about 6 or 7, they like the dark and like to sleep, plus leaving ur light on can cause algae bloom which isnt good so turn it off
