Question about the sony dsc-tx7?

I'm thinking of getting the sony dsc-tx7 for christmas because I've seen from a lot of places that it's a really good camera. My only question is if there is a better, newer camera since this one is around 9 months old (besides the tx5 because I think this ones better) that would be better than this? Or another camera besides sony around the price of this one that's better.
