Question about the healthcare debate, specifically the argument that it is a right?

I am against the proposed health care reform, but i am for health care reform because insurance companies have way too much power.

I would like the discussion to focus on this point:
If health care is a right, and therefore the government should provide for it, wouldn't it make more sense that the government makes sure that food is provided for everyone and everyone has a roof over their head? In my opinion, food and shelter are more basic needs than health care. I am not looking for a debate, I just want to know what a good rebuttal is to my argument would be.

the right is a human right as you say so should a roof over our heads and nourishment be.

if we are to continue down the road as we are the USA will become worse than a third world country. People will be living and dying in the streets.

My father always said," the government should supply the necessities of life so that we can all work for the extra wants".
"To those that think this would make us lazy just need to look towards the Kennedy's having their needs met they still are hard at work".
