In the past, I have been prescribed Prilosec and Zantac for acid reflux, but never at the same time. I don't have health insurance now so I'm going to have to self medicate. I'm wondering if Prilosec and Zantac can be taken safely together in the same day, just not at the same time. Could I take a Zantac 75 in the morning before breakfast, then one Prilosec OTC in the evening before dinner? I'd also like to use generic Tums before bedtime as well as maybe in the early afternoon. Does all of that sound ok? I mean, would any of that cause problems? It doesn't look like it would but I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried this?

I'd also be curious to know how you all feel about the generic Prilosec OTC, like from Walmart or Costco? Do they work as well as the name brand?

Prilosec works for 24 hours so you may not need the Zantac (Prilosec is also much more effective than Zantac).

If you've been prescribed them in the past wouldn't it make more sense to take the same dose of Prilosec you were prescribed, but buy it over-the-counter?

As to your last question, the generics seem to work as well as the brand name so save yourself a few dollars and go with the generic versions.
