question about T-Mobile?

So I have been with T Mobile for like the past 5 yrs and I have 5 months left on my contract which I plan on cancelling bc I am not satisfied with them at all for one their phones are crap, there service doesn't always work (droped calls, no service etc), when I send txt messages sometimes my husband wont get them till like 5 hours later. Well I called and the girl I talked to said that if I cancel now its $200, I thought that the less time you have on your contract the less you have to pay to cancel? Plus if there service does not work for me all the time should they have to let me out of my contract or something? Does any of this sound familiar to a t-mobile customer?
