I am currently studying a degree in Mechanical Engineering, however I am very curious about advanced physics and am strongly considering the possibility of adding more advanced physics papers to my degree program with the possibility of double majoring. A physics major will add 2 years to my 4 year Mechanical Engineering degree. I am academically capable enough to do this but am skeptical as to the practicalities of pursuing knowledge that will potentially be of no professional use.
My main question is, is it worth it? What are the pro's and con's? Any sort of discussion regarding the topic would be appreciated to make my mind up.
Please only answer if you have experience or valid points.
Thank you in advance for your input.
