My sister (age 24) has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and is waiting on an operation.
I am age 21 and was wondering whether i should get a screening, was just wondering if this could be genetic.

You have to 25+ to be able to get a smear test, however you can get one done privatly at a cost of £100.
Was just wondering if someone could tell me what i should do in this situation.

My sister got a smear test as she was suffering with pains in her stomache.
I have spoken to the doctors about this and they have spoken to the health department that deals with the smear tests and even given my sisters situation they will not allow me to do it, they will send the test back.

You have to over 25 to have this done, i really don't know what to do

Hey, I hope your sister recovers well, which I'm sure she will.

In the meantime, It would be beneficial for you to get a smear/ pap test done just to be safe.

Im in Australia and I had my first one when I was 18 (its free here) I'm now 21 like you.

But as women we owe it to ourselves to get these things checked out and make sure its all fine down there. I had pains in my stomach too,and it turned out to be fine, but Im glad I had the test, as it only takes a week and you come out knowledgeable about your own health.

Stay safe

Go get a smear test done, it could save your life..cervical cancer is very hard to fight.

You are 25 before you are automatically called for a smear test - if your doctor sees a medical need for you to have one, then you will get one - you won't have to wait. Given your sister's situation, I would go and see your GP as soon as possible.

well there is always a risk as it can be passed down genetically, my grandmother has it, and my mum made me get a jab because im wayyy too young for a smear. But i personally think you should because its not something to take chances with.
