Question about Samsung LCD?

I just got a 32" Samsung LCD TV (LN32B540). I was using the AVIA DVD to calibrate it and when calibrating the sharpness came up, I noticed that when I adjusted the sharpness nothing happened. My Xbox, which I use as my DVD player, is hooked up via component cables. Does adjusting sharpness when something is hooked up via component not do anything?
 
if you're using the HD components for your xbox which i assume, it will have an effect. There are presets you can access on your LCD via the menu guide and set it to MOVIE which will allow a nice fit for your preference.
