I am a sprinter in college (800, 400, 200, 100, relays) and I have run into an epidemic with practice lately. I am a freshman, and of course going from high school practice to college practice is rigorous. However I have always had a problem, which has seemed to arise rapidly lately. Mid-way into workouts (meaning usually middle-distance which you have to maintain a fast pace for) I get quickly fatigued in particular points on my body.
This fatigue however is not like lactic acid burn, muscle soreness, or simple lack of energy in these points. It's a different feeling, which when described to fellow athletes of my event is unfamiliar. It usually occurs in my upper quad, groin, and lower abdominal regions.
This feeling can be described as a weakening and numb, yet painful sensation all around these areas.
PLEASE don't recommend common sense things like "drink water" and "breathe." I've been drinking plenty of water around the clock and I have indeed been breathing! I also occasionally take supplements such as ginkgo biloba extract (for my blood problem called "erythrocytosis") and a vitamin B complex.
If anyone has an answer to what exactly is going on it would be extremely helpful to me. And thank you for your time if you took the effort to read this!
