question about resting after weight bearing exercises?

ive been to the gym, did bench presses, pullups, all different kinds of workouts.
i also do pushups and situps everyday.
my question is, if i rest for like lets say 2-3 days, should i see improvement in muscle size after 2-3 days? is this too much time to rest? to little?
