I have a 2wd 1999 Ford Ranger and my upper ball joint on the left side is going bad. I was going to try and replace the upper ball joint myself but I have found out that they don't make it very easy for the do it your selfer.
My question is would it be easier to just replace the whole upper control arm? Is that something that I would be able to do myslef. I know the parts would be more but if I can do it myself then the labor would be way less and the total cost would be a fraction of the price of taking it into a shop.
My last question is the ball joint just started making noise and the rubber is crushed with a slice in it. What can happen if I keep driving it for a bit before I repair it or get it repaired?
