The administration of John F. Kennedy is rarely mentioned as “The First Roman Catholic President.” This is barely mentioned. He is primarily remembered because he was assassinated and secondarily because of historical events such as the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Occasionally people mention tertiary scandals such as trysts with Marilyn Monroe. But only rarely do people mention the fact he was the “First Roman Catholic President of the United States.” Will future generations remember Obama primarily as “The First Black President” or will he primarily be remembered because of historical events that take place during his administration and his record as a president? Or will he pass off into the distance as a barely remembered President?
