Question about Net10 Motorola EM326G?

I'm upgrading my phone, I used to have a Tracfone Moto W376G, and whenever I sent a text message, I had to wait for the message to actually go out and be confirmed "sent" before I could close my phone. I have the EM326G from Net10 in the mail. Can I text with this phone, and slide it shut while the message is sending?
