Im about to join the navy and im just wondering what the physical training in boot camp is like. I can pull 70+ push ups on a bad day, about 15-20 pull ups, I can do almost unlimited sit ups or crunches, and i run a little less than a six minute mile. Im assuming i will be in better shape than most when entering. Is there any benefits to bieng an over achiever during the physical training or should i just lay low and keep with the rest of the group? Also is there anything else that i should do, besides stay in shape, before boot camp?

keep up being in shape. So far as overachieving or staying with the pack... your training willl be as a group. you will all do the exercises together, so when a halt is called for one exercise (say... situps) you all will stop and then they will do the next exercise.

But when you do your physical test. dont hold back. do the best you can. it is an individual effort.

As to what else should you do?

one of the more annoying parts off bootcamp was having to memorize the 11 general orders of the sentry, Your Chain of command, and Naval ranks (enlisted and Officer)
Get those memorized and out of the way and you are in good shape to keep your mind clear for the rest of the training you get.
